The Trip family traded weapons and ammunition, like the Bartolotti family. Their house, the Trippenhuis is the widest canal house facade in Amsterdam. In the 17th century more taxes had to be payed if the house was wide, which is why many Amsterdam canal houses are so narrow. They had weapon factories in Sweden, and many descendants became VOC members.
